Drabble: An Afternoon in St Mungo's
Title: An Afternoon in St Mungo'sAn Afternoon in St Mungo's
Characters: Draco, Lockhart (implied H/D)
Summary: Draco and Gilderoy have a little chat.
Lockhart squinted at the name badge. "Healer…Malory?"
"At least until tomorrow."
"And what's mine again?"
"Say, that's smashing!"
Draco smiled. "You've always liked it."
"And why ever not? Spot on, isn't it?"
"Drink," Draco said, offering a glass and tablets instead of an answer.
"And what happens to the Malfoy tomorrow?"
Draco chuckled, despite himself. "It gets a Potter attached to the end."
"Never needed one myself. Greenest fingers in England!"
"I'm getting married," Draco Clarified.
"Oh!" He sat forward with interest. "What's she called, then?"
"Hairy? Ah, well. Takes all kinds, doesn't it?"
I'll probably be posting more as they come to me, but because I'm writing about my life and my family, the drabbles will be friends-locked.
Just thought I'd tell you, since I know some of you read your flists without logging in! :D
It's just hockey! *ducks*
who_la_hoop is having a birthday tomorrow!
Ok, so our men got kinda trounced in the hockey tonight. I hope people will keep their heads and not do any foolish rioting. Yes, it's disappointing, but we we have the women's team still, and they're playing their hearts out, so let's have fun with the remainder of the games.
And even if we don't win, it's been a hell of a party, right?
We are more than hockey.
We also have very nice rocks, trees, water and Nathan Fillion.
And to all, a good day!
*hugs for all*
I'm going to write - even if it kills me!
Thanks to accioslash, I have joined wrisomifu on lj, the (write something, you miserable fuck) community!
Need someone to whip your butt all throughout November? Can you commit to writing something, anything for 10 minutes a day? Than this is the community for you!
We're realistic enough to know we're not going to have that novel/thesis paper/poem on Emus/shopping list completed in a month, but we're going to get sort of disciplined and write SOMETHING, damnit!
Are you a high-functioning procrastinator? Feel the need to join? I thought so! :D

We're taken for a lovely walk on a high wire that's been suspended over the pools of Love and Disaster. Did I mention there's a wind?

snarry fic rec - death and the open mind by loupgarou1750 NC-17
Title: Death and the Open Mind
Genre(s): Alive and Kicking (EWE)
Prompt(s): Can You Hear Me?/Last Hope
Rating/Warnings/Kinks: NC-17 (barely) *Het (mild,) underage (Harry/Ginny immediately post-War,) ageplay (fantasy chan only), caning (fantasy only), language*
Word Count: 44,000 +/-
Summary: Harry's having nightmares, blurting out rude things, causing trauma, generally behaving badly, and thinks he may be going mad.
A really cool concept behind this story. It was really exciting to have the hints unfold, but at the same time poor Harry has to though a lot before he gets any peace (or his hearts desire). The 'someone living in someone else's mind' idea could go so many ways of cracky, but this was more a thriller at heart, and I really enjoyed the journey.
Ok, I just posted the master list for the snarry_games, but someone asked me to also post the link to my fic again, so here it is *blush*:
She Who Knows The Orphan

Word Count: ~50,000

Snarry fic rec - This noble Land by conquest won by abigail89
Title: This Noble Land by Conquest Won
Author: Hysterical Hystorian abigail89
Genre(s): Alive and Kicking
Prompt(s): Go West, Symphony
Rating/Warnings/Kinks: R; None
Word Count: ~12,200
The title is paraphrased from the poem "To Rutland Go" by Vermont citizen, Thomas Rowley (1721-96).
Summary: Harry and Severus have found life sweet amongst Muggles in Vermont. But their peaceful world is shattered one day in a most unexpected way.
She has such a gift for description. I loved seeing the view from their windows, feeling the heat of the day, smiling at the thump of a dog's tail on dusty floorboards and being hyper aware of the dangers and joys of living a secret life in the Muggle world.
This was a beautiful story.
If you have the time, please read, vote and comment. *hugs*
Snarry art rec - Guy Who...? by morganlefey1958 PG-13
Title: Guy Who...?
Genre(s): Genderbender, Fusion
Prompt(s): Eat Cake
Rating/Warnings/Kinks: PG13, Highlight if you wish to know: * het, nudity*
Artist's Notes/Disclaimers/Thank you to: Characters from my WIP, Hana Rose's Diner, where Harry is female because of a dark spell and now lives hiding in plain sight in a new life, running a family diner in Avalon, Washington. Her gigantic Cinnamon Buns are a local hit and Sev's favorite... and we all know how much he hates to share! Hana loves to watch FoodTV and one of her favorite shows (also mine and calanor's) is Diner's, Drive-ins, & Dives, with Guy Fieri.
The world of Harry Potter and her characters do not belong to me and I make no profit from playing with them. They belong to JKR and Warner Brothers. The only thing that belongs to me is my story behind this art and the idea of Female!Harry or Hana Rose. Thank you to calanor for her support and to my fellow teammates during my meltdowns. Thanks to the Mods for the extension I ended up not needing.
Media used: graphite and ink by hand, finished in PhotoShop.
Food and Snarry? Seriously, what could be better? Mmmmmmm....sinabuns...

Um...WOW! Lizard is amazing to begin with, but she takes the challenge of her genres and prompts and produces this stunning piece of art! I can almost hear the thunder, taste the rain and feel the tension flare between our favourite tormented characters.
Love, vote and comment! *hugs*

Word Count: ~ 56,500
Author Notes/Disclaimers/Betas: Should I have warned for a distinct lack of overt sex? If you've come looking for pr0n – sorry. The plot-bunny grew to the size of Tyrannosaurus Rex on steroids and kind of took over. / The Harry Potter world and characters are the sole property of J.K. Rowling, Scholastic, Bloomsbury, and Raincoast Books, and Warner Bros., Inc. I make no money from writing fanfiction. / Thank you to my plot-bunny wranglers, Lesyeuxverts, Leela Cat and Klynie, and my betas, Klynie and WhiteCotton
Summary: From the private journal of John. H. Watson MD; not intended for publication. Being an account of the strange case of the Fourth Deathly Hallow; in which Dr John H. Watson and Mr Sherlock Holmes save a life, discover the true secret of Professor Moriarty, unravel a time loop or two, encounter a femme fatale, imbibe potions, break into and out of a wizarding mansion, hide in a male brothel, go shopping, track down a magical artefact, almost attend a ritual sacrifice, fail to be Obliviated and totally ignore the International Statute of Wizarding Secrecy of 1692, all in the company of a lank-haired, irascible but secretly besotted schoolmaster, a bemused aristocrat and an increasingly perceptive and enamoured young hero.
I was won over by the summary alone and the promise of a Sherlock Holmes/HP crossover! The POV, the language and the tone were superb! You know how I'm a sucker for historical fiction, so this was right up my alley, but I have no doubt everyone will fall in love with this fic. I'm a little behind with this rec, so if you have time, please read, vote and comment! It's longish, but sooooo worth the read!
Title: Dream a Bloody Dream

Ok, take a quick look, marvel at the AWESOMENESS, and then go back and study the details. Read everything (even the backwards stuff) and the story unfolds. This is just incredible work. If you're a fan of graphic novels or noir, you will eat this up, baby! Dood, please vote and spread the love!
Title: What Would You Do for Love?
Genre(s): Gender Bender and/or Crossdressing; Literary and/or Historical
Prompt(s): Love and Marriage
Rating/Warnings/Kinks: PG; none
Media used: Watercolours, coloured pencils, a bit of Photoimpact
Archiving/Usage permission, including the Tribute Video (only after the polls have closed and medals have been awarded): Sure
Summary: What would you do for love? Would you give up your identity to be with the person you love? Would you give yourself to them, knowing that you’re wholly dependent on them? That’s what this picture story is about. Lord Snape is urged by his friend, Lord Malfoy, to find a woman to marry. By chance, he instead meets Harry, a bookshop owner, and there is an instantaneous and amorous attraction. But this is nineteenth century England, where homosexuality is forbidden and women have no rights. Conflicted, Snape returns to London, but Harry's friend, Hermione, finds him there and convinces him of a bold plan where Harry would disappear and give up his whole life so the two of them could be together. In the end, Harry gives up his rights as a man, his identity, and masquerades as a woman. After their wedding, they retreat to a country estate to live in peace.
She hits the prompts and genres bang-on, in my opinion, anyway. heh. I really like the sepia-ish warm colours and all the emotion that comes through.
